The first graduates of the school started their profession 23 years ago. From this point of view, the graduates of the school have started to make great contributions to the sector in real terms. Kocaeli University Karamürsel Maritime Schools Alumni Association was founded around this fact to transform the solidarity between the graduates into sectoral solidarity over time. The short name of the association is KOU KARMEDER. Although the date of establishment is close to today, it is taking firm steps towards becoming an association that will achieve very good works.

History of Kocaeli University Karamürsel Maritime Schools Alumni Association

The association was established in 1995 to bring together the graduates of Kocaeli University Maritime Vocational School, who accepted their first students. In addition to this purpose, it is known that Kocaeli University Maritime Faculty has accepted students since 2008. Some students graduate from here every year. The association has existed intending to gather graduates of this department under the same roof. Kocaeli University Karamürsel Maritime Schools Alumni Association was officially established on 09 July 2019. The first general meeting of the association took place on December 21, 2019. The current management and founding members in this meeting are considered the first management of the association.

Vision and Mission of the Association

The vision of the association is vital. When looked at, Kocaeli University Maritime Faculty and Maritime Vocational High Schools must be together. This will contribute to the development of the maritime profession. In this context, the graduates of maritime-related departments must continue their solidarity for generations. The association conducts various studies to contribute to this solidarity. It also improves its vision in this direction. The mission of the association is also determinant in its work.

The mission of the association is to shed light on the career processes of the graduates. Besides, people who graduate from the same school should transfer their experiences gained during their school years to new students. People who started to serve as seafarers should also pass on the maritime spirit they have acquired from their professional lives to future generations. With this vision and mission, Kocaeli University Karamürsel Maritime Schools Alumni Association will continue its work. It is also ready to work with other maritime associations when necessary. For this purpose, it became a member of the Seafarers Federation.
